Oh no! He does this for a living!

Over the 8 or so years I've been on Customize.org I routinely will run into some user who discovers that, egads, I actually make computer software and (gasp) SELLS it.

While other people presumably work for a living elsewhere, they come here as part of their hobby. In my case, my hobby is also my job.

Most people think it's pretty cool. I mean, I get to hang out and talk shop with other people who are into this sort of thing.

But sometimes, you run into the quasi-socialist sect that is horrified at the thought that I talk about software whose creation I'm involved in. Mostly they are aghast because money is being charged for it. If it were free, they'd probably be happy I was here interacting.

In the ensuing unpleasantries that follow, I sometimes am reminded of an old Simpsons episode (Bart after Dark) where Bart ends up working in a Burlesqe house. When Marge finds out, she goes to the proprietary of the house demanding she shut down on the grounds that she doesn't belong in Springfield. Belle, however, points out that she and her family has been in Springfield since it started.

So when someone tells me how I don't belong on Customize.org, I can't help but look at the date they joined and sure enough, it's also someone who is relatively new to the site. I've always been here and I hope to always be here in the future.
